Where to Begin

You’re thinking about starting therapy but aren’t sure what to do…

First, browse my website to learn a little about me and how I work with my therapy patients.  If you’re planning on using your health insurance, please first visit my Fees and Insurance page.

Second, contact me to schedule an initial consultation appointment.  During this appointment we will discuss the reasons you are seeking therapy and I’ll ask questions about your health, relationships, family history, work or school performance and more.  Before that hour visit is complete, I will share with you my thoughts about your situation, diagnostic impressions and recommendations.  This is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of what it would be like to work with me as your therapist.

Third, after we schedule the initial consultation appointment, please complete these intake forms.  Be sure to also complete a release of information form so I can request records from your previous therapists, psychiatrist, primary care physician or anyone else who might be helpful in our work together.

Though my office is conveniently located just outside the Baltimore Beltway, it’s a good idea to plan to arrive a few minutes early.  My office is off Hooks Lane (between Reisterstown Road and Park Heights Avenue) on Reservoir Circle.  After turning onto Reservoir Circle, proceed around the circle to the right and park by Building #8 (there is ample free parking, including handicap parking).  Immediately after entering the double glass doors of Building #8, you’ll find Suite #105 on the right, across from the elevators.  As you enter the waiting room you’ll see a column of doorbells on the wall ahead of you.  Press the doorbell with my name, “Dr. Heitt,” and have a seat.  If I do not come out to greet you at your appointment time, feel free to ring the doorbell again.

I accept payment in the form of checks, cash or credit card.
